Going Undercover With Versatile Veneers

Correcting your smile problems isn’t something people do out of vanity. Instead, investing in your smile can have a significant impact on the way you relate to the world.

Studies show a beautiful smile gives you more confidence, makes your first impressions more memorable, and might even help you land a job. In fact, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry found that 48% of people believe a smile is the most memorable feature when first meeting someone.

The good news is that you don’t have to spend months wearing braces or go through a major procedure to get a life-changing smile. Dr. Ryan Fait and our team at Southern California General & Cosmetic Dentistry offer veneers and other cosmetic dentistry treatments to address a wide range of dental issues quickly and painlessly.

Here’s everything you need to know about veneers.

What are veneers?

Veneers are ultra-thin, tooth-colored shells typically made from porcelain or a resin composite. Dr. Fait permanently attaches them to your teeth to cover up minor cosmetic issues.

Traditional veneers some prep before placement, but some veneers are simpler to attach and require less preparation. Dr. Fait helps you decide which type of veneer is best for your specific needs and goals.

Which problems can veneers correct?

Veneers aren’t for everyone, but they can correct minor cosmetic issues. Veneers might be right for you if you have smile problems like:

Veneers are also a great option if regular teeth-whitening treatments aren’t achieving the results you’re looking for. Other more serious dental issues like missing teeth or severe alignment problems may require different treatments like dental implants or Invisalign®

How do veneers work?

Your journey to a better smile with veneers begins with a consultation with Dr. Fait. He evaluates your smile to check for any serious damage or other dental issues that need to be addressed before you get your veneers.

If you’re a suitable candidate, Dr. Fait makes a mold of your teeth and sends it to a dental lab where technicians create your customized veneers.

About a week or so later, when your veneers are ready, you’ll come into the office to have them placed.

Dr. Fait first cleans your teeth and ensures the veneers are a perfect fit. Then, he prepares your teeth by smoothing out any rough surfaces that make it harder for the veneers to adhere. Dr. Fait then applies a dental cement to bond the veneers to your teeth.

Once securely in place, the veneers close the small gaps between your teeth, conceals cracks, covers chips, and whitens your smile. In a matter of hours, you’ll walk out of our office with a brand new grin.
